Secret In The Sea

Motionless she drifted, helpless with the tide,    

under the wide blue ocean she died.

Offering herself for a moonlit swim,

Its betrayal had seduced and dragged her within.

Her lifeless body had swept out of sight,

not even spotted by a sailors flash light.

The sea's fury hears her echoing name,

but won't let go of this victim its claimed. 

With delicate features now pale like the sand,

something so small sits within her closed hand.

As murmuring callings awaken the soul,

a sense of well being she somehow feels whole.

Bewildered and lost in the depths of the deep,

something so magical has awakened her sleep.

Letting go of the object held firm in her grasp,

out swims a seahorse to guide her at last.

As breaking waves linger upon the Sea's shore,

her past life forgotten, she remembers no more.

Now a secret this mermaid shall be,

because her beauty has outshone the sea.
