The Secret of the Swamp

The Secret of the Swamp

'The Centaurians'

Chapter 3
The Secret of the Swamp
(to be continued)

Within dark, mossy oaks
sheltered in logs,
resonating in sync,
are the croaking of frogs.

Heard in the shadows above marshy ground
they leap in silence yet their voices...profound

Fat toads upon stools are scoffing mushrooms
while salamanders splash as they play in the pools
below the highest of all waterfalls

The will-o-wisps ignite their lights
while the sun begins setting, fading into the night.

Crickets’ legs click consuming air thick,
while tawny owls and wolves on the prowl,
stalk their pray beneath the moon’s ray,
then the siren, Celestia comes out to play.

As the day doth betray her golden hair,
porcelain face a maiden so fair.
Alas, as the night falls into her song,
tis where the sirens’ song belongs.

Known by name, and name alone
Celestia sits upon her throne.
Waiting for naught and no one that’s known
The Siren then waits for what’s to be shown.

Her hair of gold and bronze, turns black
her china face begins to crack
her skin turns grey beneath the stars
revealing every wrinkled scar,

Yet from afar, her peaceful tune
is all he hears beneath the moon.
Every breath of her angelic lung
falls upon Victors tongue.

Her melancholy tale of despair
has Victor enthralled as he continues to stare,
so close to her now, yet already there.

The mayor then spoke with disgruntled despair
“Please beware my friend
the song of a siren only leads to an end
this mistress of the swamps' abyss
will be your death, sealed with a kiss
her evil lust, you must not trust
so let us leave this succubus.”
Yet the only words Victor could hear
were those of the siren filling his ears.

A commotion then begins to quake,
as Celestia slowly creeps out of the lake.
Her glowing eyes light the Swamp of Varke
as she curiously makes her way through the dark
clambering over the tainted bark
towards her ever fated mark.
At that very moment Victor felt a spark….

The Mayor then sees Celestia pause
unusual for so many reasons because,
no one had ever seen a siren show
any emotion, nor their eyes to glow.
Thus his intrigue towards this sight
was reflected upon the siren in fright.

Confused by the obvious Victor to her right
and conquered by The Mayors obvious insight,
Celestia falls,
upon failure tonight.

The swamp then stumbles upon an awkward silence….
