Seeds of Sagacity

Deep within the soul and heart of us, there dwells an inner child.
Some mild and meek, it’s peace they seek — yet some yearn to be wild.
Imagination lurks there too; it waits to manifest.
The written page upon which *sage, becomes one's mission quest.

 
“Seek ye the light, young man”, some scream, “you must eschew the dark!”
Get out, go forth and make thy way, for you must make thy mark.”
“Upon an unsuspecting world, thy words upon the page
can blaze the way, thou must convey, the wisdom of an age.”

 
‘Tis quite a chore to wrench such lore from the mere minds of babes.
Vile jesters laugh—the crass riffraff—toss their dark ace of spades.
Sad hollow eyes pure pain denies will reach the light within.
Cruel clowns throw down the devil’s crown—that’s when true fun begins.

 
That inner child is so beguiled, it rushes to the fray.
To weave woe’s words, as thoughts occur to make a better way.
For young and old brought to the fold will write their verse, so bold,
and chase away death and decay to warm our bones, so cold.

 
The din of death leaves most bereft, yet still, the brave write on.
With every line, conveyed in rhyme, they breathe a hopeful song.
Dark clouds depart dispersed by art no darkness could withstand.
As words of hope help us to cope and love our fellow man.

 
Deep down within the heart of some lurk wise, beleaguered bards
whose inner child has reconciled poor hands dealt in the cards.
Words woven of sagacity for those who care to read;
they plant the seeds of noble deeds, whilst on the page, they bleed.
