Shadows of the Moon Passing Through
Many hours fade into a day, and the dusk appears to shade
In shadows of the moonlight, it brings a silent rain upon the forests
I can feel the flicker of the mockingbird, as he nests for the evening
Where we rest, we must know that the spirit world will look over us
And in the shadows of the moon, the night hawk will slip into a tree
Looking for the native man, to fill his mind with dreams, let us keep faith
The earth sounds of thundering drums, from the distant tribes, it protects
Longing for the hunt of a home, a shelter for our children, we must rest
Until the sunlight, awakens our soul, to the sunrise of a daring day
We shall find the way to the waters, and fish the trout in the rivers shallow
The crane will follow our walk, and it will give us good luck, for it knows
Our future must hold every shadow, over rocky mountains, over dusty valleys
We will find the creek to drink, and the hungry bears will not harm us
They are our friends, they know our spirit is true, and the Cherokee nation
Has given themselves, their heart, their lungs, their bones, and their minds
To the glory of time, and place, to see the fallen star, rise once more, into the heavens
As the shadows of the moon pass, each night, we shall move on to another water
Just passing through
