Solivagant

Wandering the forest,
Alone with the European Aspen treesĀ
The earthy palette of browns and greens
Is a comfort to tired eyesĀ
As each bump and ledgeĀ
Tries to trip my aching solesĀ
As my aching knees protestĀ
Nordic wind plays with my hairĀ
Silver clouds gather above my head
Walking for days in solitudeĀ
Just the forest and the occasional animalĀ
breaks my antisocial streakĀ
As I navigate the woodlands,
Trying to understand this worldĀ
Like a disillusioned penguin, I have broken awayĀ
from my tribeĀ
Heading towards the mountains,
I may live or I may die,
But doing the same routine is insanity,
Scientists can't figure out why some penguins do this,
But I know why,
Because wanting a different life,Ā
Or solitude isn't just the desire of a human mindĀ
All of us yearn for space
To be alone,
And to find out who we are inside.
