Solivagant

Wandering the forest,
Alone with the European Aspen treesÂ
The earthy palette of browns and greens
Is a comfort to tired eyesÂ
As each bump and ledgeÂ
Tries to trip my aching solesÂ
As my aching knees protestÂ
Nordic wind plays with my hairÂ
Silver clouds gather above my head
Walking for days in solitudeÂ
Just the forest and the occasional animalÂ
breaks my antisocial streakÂ
As I navigate the woodlands,
Trying to understand this worldÂ
Like a disillusioned penguin, I have broken awayÂ
from my tribeÂ
Heading towards the mountains,
I may live or I may die,
But doing the same routine is insanity,
Scientists can't figure out why some penguins do this,
But I know why,
Because wanting a different life,Â
Or solitude isn't just the desire of a human mindÂ
All of us yearn for space
To be alone,
And to find out who we are inside.
