Sonata In Blue

Sonata In Blue

meditation on a theme by Beethoven

Redolent echoes where now silent strings
still quiver; struck by heartfelt hammer-fall
Articulating those unspoken things
which rest in stillness ~ but retain their thrall.
Considered notes, sufficient to impress,
creep into secret places (but confuse)
The Artist strives to secretly caress;
more deeply than the lover does: his muse.
Yet dissonance falls on a tender ear
And deafens simple hearts to longing strokes
Complexity holds such discordant fear
And counters the intent his chord evokes.
With music full of cruel irony
Counterpoint disrupts the careful tempi.

Ahh Jason, again another most stunning pieceā€¦

Complexity holds such discordant fear
And counters the intent his chord evokes..

My Dear Friend Jason,

Oh my dearest listeners, these notes I write in rue

Of all your pain and suffering, as I hear your pleas so true

Find solace in this sonata's solemn sound, may your blues soon fade away

And again you see the sun's pure light, as you greet another day

Peace and Love,

Larry, my dear friend...

Beethoven wrote his 'Moonlight' Sonata for an Italian princess with whom he was passionately in love. When he presented the scoreĀ to her, she tried to play it, failed miserably...and then said to him, "Oh no, Ludwig...write me something I can play!"

He'd just poured his heart out onto the page for her...but she rejected it because she couldn't get the fingering* right!!

Thank you so much for this endearing poetic tribute. You are a constant source of friendship, encouragement and delight.

your friend & fan,

J ;)

*This is a technical pianist's term ... so no smutty jokes, please!! ?

My Dear Friend Jason,

Here I thought you were saying that the Princess "moonlighted" as a detective.

Peace and Love, My Brother,
