'Soulless'

The weight of the pressure, 
The swarming of the water. 

The sting of the bite, 
The cutting of the knife.

The longing for breath, 
Just one more breath. 

The knowledge of the aftermath sets in,
No matter; the longing remains within.

Let me go, set me free, 
The soulless beast weighs heavy on me. 

I feel the pull, down to the deep, 
As the darkness intertwines itself around me.

The hollowness of its eyes, are as black as night, 
Containing no soul, or hint of light. 

It leaves me in silence; no sound, no scream.

Only the terror of struggle to reach the surface once more. 
The pull of its weight only leaves me in horror. 

This creature's hunger can never be fed, 
Whose vicious bite is blood red. 

As reality wakes me suddenly from it all.

Clarity rushes the fog from my mind, 
Freezing my thoughts in time. 

I ask myself; is this the grip of the white demon, the beast that lives beneath. 
Or is this, the endless affliction; of the Dark Face of ADDICTION!
