Spirits

Lofty thoughts fill empty nights
like champagne bubbles in a glass
The stark introversion makes for a fermented view
If one cares to review
Lately I find myself wondering
If I have grown quite madĀ
Perhaps I overdosed on sad
I have noticed how spirits are so restless
Just barging in on me quite reckless
I cannot say they are welcomeĀ
Cause their appearance makes distress
I am not some seance conjurer
Setting up a traveling show
I am just me and I am garden variety
So Son of Sam or Ronald Reagan
You can all come a beggin'
And I still won't sit and talk
To a disembodied spirit just because I can.
