St. Patrick

St. Patrick

Patrick, the patron saint of our land,
Came to give Irish people a hand.
Kidnapped by pirates, he worked on a farm,
He prayed to God to bring him no harm.
After returning to Britain, he had a vision,
To Ireland he must go on an important mission.
He baptised the people who came in droves,
Turning a nation who hates into one that loves.
Banishing reptiles and snakes, was no easy feat,
As he lead the way for his new Christian fleet.
The shamrock a symbol of the Holy Trinity,
Ireland’s new motto being one of affinity.
