THE STAR

The Star

I saw a star of brilliant light

traveling fast across the night

I did not ask why it was there

it was a secret none could share

I traveled with this star at first

across the infinite, endless Universe

The fantastic colours that I saw

made me so small and full of awe

I saw the Earth in different hues

encircled, protected in a halo of blue

I reached out to touch this globe

as I went quickly by

But Earth was out of reach

And soft tears did I cry

I traveled past many planets,

way past the realms of dreams

I traveled through the darkness

to the Suns brilliant beams

I saw the browns and greens of Earth

and flowers being born

Then sunrise brushed the sky

as I awoke that early morn
