State of mind

State of mind

Must i take my kneesΒ
sit on my heels
extend my hands
and bow facing the ground
and recite praises
to a man who used my insecurity
to trap me?
who placed his desires on a pedestal
so high that others aspirations couldn't
measure up
should i praise thee?
This lying, this disgraceful, this nobody that you
made me out to be?
Is that what is expected of me?
Was my birth a life sentence to serve thee?
