STILL LIFE

STILL LIFE

My days of living, seem motionless
Transfixed in a screaming silence
Here I sit, in still life
Pacified, subdued

I listen for the heartbeat of living
For the sound of life's sweet breath
Have I become so soothed and lulled
That I now wait and long for death

In the stillness, the silence
Waiting to take a breath
My life's become a statue
Carved from a life standing still
I see life happen, all around me
As I'm sitting still, in still life
