Poem -

“Strange Fruit” (II)

                 “Strange Fruit” (II)

There’s a dark, dark road in the corner of the deep of wood, Some say it’s haunted, others say its people up to no good.

Strange things are happening, sounds of screaming heard from miles away, Speak not’s of the community, though I have heard the old folks say.

At night, woods are so bright, it seems the moon fell from the sky, Only truths that seemed clearer, were the reasons for the morbid cry.

Many have gone missing, maybe lost and forgotten their way, A road best left not traveled, even during the break of day.

Take heed to the setting sun, don’t be caught after dark at play, There’s strange fruit being a picked but on the poplar tree, they just sway.

Fresh fruit for the picking, black bodies just a swaying and kicking, Though the fruit bares no sweet taste and fingers, not to ever be licking.

White sheets are being adorned, with flour bags to hide their face, Only the moon light welcomes its victims, in this lonesome, dead of place.

A home heard burnt yesterday and a crucifix, left placed on the lawn, Family of four never made it to the door, just before, the break of dawn.

A local news paper will be read, no known cause, for why they are dead, although all four occupants, were found tied up and bound securely to their bed.

So darkness now fall, hurry home you all, no time to waste, nor is there to spare, strange fruit is of their choosing, your life, not worth loosing, come home to those who care.

Jim

P.S. Inspired by the (late),Leona A. Smiths, “Strange Fruit I.” Lets eradicate racism in society and in all walks of life, just as it has been demonstrated through and from, the examples of all that pay homage, to this site.

Always such a sad piece to read Jimmy....but the memory of it needs kept alive to remind us all that evil does still exist and  the later sprees of this kind of pain i take it is still happening in america..  some of us are blessed that we should not complain about our lives as this takes priority over a lot. why do things still happen ? and  how has the past implanted still in the present?  a few questions in minds id say  ...too much hatred and fear among the people.
great write jimmy  ..    Tina x

Hello Dear lady,

Long time no-hear and as always, no one seems to tell it better than you..Hope all is well with you and yours and as stated, a very sad situation, to have transpired back in the day and that, which confronts people of all national origin and color, in todays society as well .Ignorance to some is a bliss but that some, is a small amount of society, that has no common sense, lack of education in terms of knowing who your neighbor, truly is because they had no decent sense enough, to get to know them, because of their color. For those that don't know, they to may harvest some of the same genes that they themselves tend to rebuke. Nor are they inclined with people skills and no place are they to perform in todays society are society in general.Separatist of any color, has no place in any country and needs to placed, on their own little island...Although people such as yourself and with the compassion and care you display for all, need to be contagious, to all those that aren't, the sad fact is, we as a entire civilization, can't be that lucky....Thanks for the read Tina and you are one, that is always enjoyable to have heard from

Sincerely,

Jim
