Surrender
PoetessDarkly's Grave Challenge

The wind blows cold
Across the face of sorrow
Till numb feels like home
And the lost are without a trace
From the path that brings them back
To where hope was once reserved
For the gift of tomorrow
Always amorphous and out of reach
Still I chased the unattainable
As though our future were held inside a dream
And without a frame it crumbled
Before I could even see the end
I will not stare the sky a final time
Nor scream the inner cries of an ultimatum
For I know it's now, and now is never
As the cliff descends
And my tears fall to brace this isolation
Cradled in hollow memoriesΒ
As they carry me off
Face down, and over the edge...
I surrender

superb! pinned for perfection!
You're way too kind Lisa! I started writing a few hours ago for the first time in months. It feels good to write again, so shame on you.
ill gladly accept the shame for a morsel of your delicious prose
Absolutely brilliant Ian, oh how I have missed your ink.
Thank you so much Simon! I am just about to read your latest work and am looking forward to it!

Just by reading these first two lines I knew I was in for a poetic treat. And the lines that follow are line after line of beautiful, powerful words that string together a truly stunning poem x
Thank you so much Tina! This was a poem I had in my mind for a long time but remained unwritten as I decided not to write any more until the challenges.

You had decided not to write any more? Well, thank heavens for those challenges then because for you to stop writing would be a tragedy x
Thank you for being a wonderful spirit!
