Poem -

the bird with a whisper

the bird with a whisper

You are the bird with a whisper
that flaps before speaking

The yellow blossoms of wattle
that grow in the Spring

The hibiscus in summer
that blooms, unexpected

and the hours of shade
that help to protect it

and when I see colour
I think only of you

‘cos you are the rainbow
after the rain

the white cloud with sunshine –
a prominent force

The fluorescence, like flowers
I see before sleeping –

And whenever I need you
I know where to find you –

You’re in my heart –
and I am in yours
