The Boy Who Stayed

   THE BOY WHO STAYED

I sit and stare at the pictures on the wall,
Suddenly all other problems seem so small,
I look at his eyes his beautiful smile,
Sad I only knew him for a little while,
I remember the day he hopped in the back seat,
Grinning from ear to ear it was the first time we'd meet,
The pictures are of a much happier time,
Two boys enjoying summer life in their prime,
The impact of loss has overwhelmed me,
I can't imagine how it has effected his family,
The days seem longer the nights never end,
My son is so lost without his best friend,
Two boys so young, so full of youth,
Now we face each day, with the awful truth,
That it was never meant to be this way,
The sadness doesn't fade from day to day,
A strong handsome boy was taken away,
A strong handsome boy was allowed to stay,
This boy asks himself everyday why,
When no one is watching he lets himself cry,
The answers to our questions will never be clear,
The unknown leaves us all in fear,
I ask why my boy was allowed to stay here,
He is the one to help us get through the days, months and year,
My heart breaks every second that they both couldn't stay,
His families dreams and experiences instantly taken away,
I am proud of my boy so caring and strong,
Wherever he goes he takes Gage along,
Even though Gage left that fateful day,
A part of him lives on with the boy who stayed.

I kind of understand it 80/100 and I get the main idea and it touches me and makes me want to cry, I just can't differ the hes. Don't change it, it makes people interested and everything I love it! That's just with me, who knows, I might be the only one who doesn't understand it fully

Thanks for your kind words. It has been a long haul for my son. Gage his mother and my son were all on a family vacation on vancouver island. They spent three amazing weeks there. Two hours from home they all fell asleep.  Gage was driving but my son has a tremenous amount of guilt. Gages mother and my son survived so unfortunate that at 16 years old Gage did not???

Hello Michelle...

I can relate to this so much...

Many people don't realize they're that tired and thinking they'll be home in a little while...

They fall asleep and don't realize they fell asleep...

My Son was 14 and he lost 3 friends in a car accident he was going to go without my knowledge, but another friend asked him to stay back with him and he did...

My Son was 16 when his best friend died...

He still carries all that with him...

It wasn't a car accident, but the other boy's mother found him...

When he was 18 both of my parents died...

A year later another good friend of his died...

I am so sorry you all have had such a loss...

My Son is finally able to see that he must have a purpose here...

He's so lost trying to figure out what it is...

May you all find the peace and healing from this tragic accident...

Very heartfelt write!

Thank you for sharing!

Hugs...
