The Elephant in the Room

The missing piece I always find
The unavoidable void
The past I cannot leave behind
Over-sensitive or paranoid?
The weakest link I always break
The unmistakable mistakes
The happiness I flawlessly fake
Above an invisible earthquake
The scars that only pretend to heal
The elephant in the room
The greyness that I seem to feel
When light blends with black doom

That abysmal abyss—the vapid void where vile creatures dwell.
A putrid place that aches, quakes, and shakes us to the very core of our soul.
I've stood on the precipice of those apathetic abominations and dared to laugh.
