The Fool
I am, in my heart, a beholder of dreams,
A keeper of hope that faith holds supreme.
I cling to our love long ago torn apart
And, yes, you have her ... but I have the stars.
And here 'neath the sky in the realm of the moon
(Where tonight's desperate song sings yesterday's tune)
I'll choose me a star and I'll pluck me a wish,
I'll have me that dream and I'll pray for its kiss.
Yet seizing desire from these opulent dreams
Does nothing but open the scars it seems
And I drink only pain from goblets of hope,
So, if I will hang then it be I weave the rope!
Oh the fool! The fool, the fool that I be
For ever so thinking you ever loved me.
