The Gathering

Once a Native American dream to believe in the good of the land
To share it with those who have come so far across waters
Let us know the native people and the white man who traveled so far
I see the grain in the fields and the sun in the sky
I feel the pleasure of filling a basket of fruit
And the fish from the rivers I share on a plate aside the deer meat abundant with fresh bread
As I look into my fathers eyes I cry for I know he is wise
And all the feast upon this table is a blessing from all hands that give
The gathering of all people to share the time and bond today as we are all equal in this feast of thanks
