THE HONKYTONK DOG

Deep in the woods
of Kentucky is a
little bar, laying on
the floor by the door
is dog, his owner
sits at the bar drinking
whiskey and gin she
would laugh and cry
and sing at every song
Then one day she died
and the dog waited on the floor
by the door for her by day he would sleep
by night he would go to all the girls
they gave him food and whiskey and gin
he barked at all the singers and kiss all
girls and now he is honkytonk dog
then one day
the dog died
and on is grave
they put here
lies the honkytonk dog

Gerg,Â
Loved it, my friend! It's sad, but it's also so telling of the wonderful nature of animals, and particularly dogs. I'm a huge dog person(not a huge person, but huge fan of dogs), and often(but don't tell any people I said this), I say that they're so much better than people to be around.Â
Really enjoyed your write.Â
Great job.Â
M.Â
Thank you yes it’s sadÂ
don’t you think this could be song
a  Country song  I have a country singer in mind  but if I send it to her I know she won’t do anything about it I tried once before with her with  song I wrote  her name is Tyler Lynn
Aw Greg, anything to do with animals makes me cry even if it's a happy tale...my first tears of the day, lovely work ??
thank you Marion
My Dear Greg,
A lovely poem, with such a sad ending. Of course, as we know, poor dogs were not given long enough lives.
By the way, I dated a "Honky Tonk Woman" from Kentucky once, but she was certainly no dog.
Love,
Larry xxx
