THE HOUSE THAT ABUSE BUILT

The house that abuse built
We couldn't hold or keep it together
Delapidated, torn apart
It couldn't protect us from the weather
If only walls could talk
God only knows what they would say
Would they reverberate the screams
Reveal the secrets, in some way
The handwriting was on the wall
But there is no guarantee
That people wouldn't ignore the signs
For there's none so blind, as those who refuse to see
The walls held in the pain
The roof kept leaking tears
A fresh coat of paint couldn't hide
The terror or the fear
The house that abuse built
It slowly crumbled apart
And though it's been demolished
It still lingers in my heart
