The Last

The Last

They held the passing night wrapped
Tight in their fierce passionate embrace,
Hidden afar and away from all
In the languid moist moonlight of the rains.
The fragrance of the wet grass,
In the rapture of their amorous breaths.
Their heaving bodies were anointed green
And muddy by the Earth herself.
Their palms fused as one,
Their fingers woven, laced together,
Laden eyes, moistened, gazing deep,
Could no longer hold restrain,
And brimmed over,
Washing over their saddened faces.

It was their last night,
Last precious moments.
