The Licked Hand
Inspired by the Urban Legend

A young girl sat alone, left inside her place,
Her dog is her companion, a calmness on his face,
She turned on the TV, to see the worldly views,
A serial killer escaped, as she heard it on the news.
Feeling a bit scared, she locked up all the doors,
Then she did the windows, on all the separate floors,
She went down to the basement, and it came as quite a shock,
No matter how much she tried, the window wouldn't lock.
She locked the basement door, and went up to her bed,
The dog laid underneath, and rested down its head,
And then sometime after that, in the middle of the night,
She woke up to a dripping sound, from the bathroom out of sight.
In a half-awake state, she felt something very slick,
She felt a sensation on her hand, from her dogs comforting lick,
And as she fell asleep again, in the knowledge he was there,
She drifted off to dreamland, tiredness replaced her care.
And just a little bit later, she heard the noise once more,
The dripping in the bathroom, around the corner of the door,
When she got up to investigate, she turned on the light,
For what she saw just chilled her, and gave her such a fright.
Her dog was hung from the shower nozzle, and it's throat had been slit,
And the blood from it's ghastly wound, in the bathtub it did drip,
And before she even reacted, before she started to cry,
Something on the bathroom mirror, had really caught her eye.
She focused on the mirror, she couldn't believe her eyes,
A simple sentence written, much to her surprise,
Written in the blood of her dog, a message cold and true,
The words would imprint on her brain, "Human's can lick too".
