The Lion And The Mouse

The Lion And The Mouse

I tore a thorn
Deep within a Lionā€™s claw
The blood ran cold,
As my heart bleeds for you.

A pouring, of love
To aid thy enemy, so.Ā
A gratefulness swell within him
As only you can heal
These wounds; licking them clean
As a fresh rainĀ
Cleanses the field.

ā€œWalkā€ I spoke, to the Lion,
ā€œLet thy spirits move unto theeā€.
The Lion, regal,
In all his might
Turned to me,
Speaking of fair tongue
To spare my aching life.

My soul: seeking your truth,
Your glory, your majesty.
For the beast knew peace;
And in peace, he now spoke.Ā

To trade oneā€™s life, for another
His instinct was not,Ā
Yet wisdom he claimed
As we soon depart.Ā

A benevolent master
He proved to be,
As the thorn
Was cast upon the ground.
