THE LITTLE NON~CONFORMIST

One must appear agreeable
And ever so polite
Always friendly, charming
When you're within eyesight
The unspoken rules of etiquette
The proper way one must behave
One must keep up appearances
Don't forget to smile, as you wave
If they should ask you how you are;
Just say fine and how are you
Then quickly turn and walk away
Keeping your feelings out of view
In a pleasant world of pretense
Where nothing's as it seems
It's a secret, lonely, silent place
Where no one hears your screams
The little non-conformist, Β rises
Demanding to be heard
She's not buying into the pretense
And she's spreading the word
Β Β
I'll shake up your homeostasis
I'll shake and rattle your perfect world
I'm not the compliant little rose
You tried to silence and keep furled
Β
