The Ode To Myself

As the sun rises my mind is reborn, 
The colors of the world find my soul and empower my thoughts,
Words fill my body with knowledge and understanding,
Life creates obstacles to strengthen my spirits,
The beat of my heart giving me purpose and will,
Ferocious beasts of society telling me I can't which keeps me still,
I break through the mainstream and prove that I can.

The faded giggles from careless children playing in the snow with little worries,
The reminiscing of my childhood eyes,
When addition and subtraction were hard, 
Little boots and tiny mittens cover our hands and feet,
We grew with grace,
We were caterpillars and now we are butterflies.

I create a new label for myself and who I've become,
A careless girl finding a place for herself in the giant world,
Tracing a path for her name.

People crowd my life with support and optimism,
He keeps me on my toes,
She cheers me on when there is little to cheer for,
We share hope and faith for each other.

Powerful peers changing my life for the better,
Her laugh and genuine smile replacing the room with happiness and love,
Her creative soul screaming with color,
His brilliant ideas exploding and changing the world,
His beautiful mind shattering my heart with euphoria.

My past seizes to exist,
While my future relies on my ambition,
I carry the weight on my shoulders with confidence in succeeding,
I can not give up,
I will not give up.

My need for independence trying to break through my skin,
Crying for freedom,
My youth hanging over me like a heavy blanket shielding a child from monsters.

My happiness drenches over me with love and undying passion,
My love reaching distances far beyond reach,
I care more than my mind can speak,
I dream more than the sun rises and the birds sing.

I walk with bold foot steps,
I throw myself into the flames,
I pull myself out with courage,
I feel myself fighting for what I deserve and for who I am,
Experience makes me stronger and soon I walk through the fire with ease.

The path is paved,
It's ready to be explored,
Soon I begin my journey along the path,
A smile on my face and a space in my heart,
Adrenaline rushes through my body and tears stream down my face,
My thoughts flooded with beautiful memories and beautiful faces.
