The price of freedom

The price of freedom

she stared into the darkness
thinking of a way out of it
he was toxic, no doubt
but she prayed it was a dream,
only to be faced with reality
he hit her five times that night
not even he really knows why
its all fun and games
until he gave her a black eye
she knew she had to run
she could practically taste her freedom
which only made her crave it more
even tho there was no where to go
she'd build a place if she had to
because she can't ever go back
for he awaits, her loving monster
will she ever be safe?
she picks up her pace
running as fast as she can
until she reaches her promise land
it's so close she can feel it
this is just the beginning of my journey, she whispered
and I intend to thrive in it.
