the skin I wear

One stands above the bluest sky
looking down on earth to tell
what dreams I had – I cast a stone
and yet with folly
I’m alone
What brought me here and why right now
why not another called to task
I believe and pray and feel
this skin I wear will shed –
will peel
Away – be gone – myself or none
facade of plenty few can bring
present it to the world below
so no-one – nothing –
will they know
Who am I to you at all
yearn of another happier
who am I to me – a course
better followed –
or is it worse
Care not but be true to oneself
reconcile break of day
night may come too soon for some
fear not for light will soon
become
Vanish mortal soul awry
build a life to start again
one’s gaze sets sight on what to learn
to some a want of kind –
to yearn
Distract from abstract – spead free will
the soul retracts  from rationale
and live throughout the break of night
the end still wanders
free of sight
For in this world of wonderment
are we free to live or walk away
and when will one decide one’s fate
a life immortal –
at the gate.
