The Speedy Trail

The Speedy Trail

I made a cool invention
Because I wanted to go really fast
It had always been my intention
To never again be last

I used a couple of lolly sticks
And the wheels from a toy car
The axles came from old watch bits
And I used curtain rings for the safety bar

I used twine and some chewing gum
To hold it all together
The day of the race had finally come
Would my name live on forever?

I got a push start from some friends
And everyone started cheering
I almost lost it on the first bend
As I was not that good at steering

I was gathering speed and beginning to shake
I had never felt such a thrill
But nothing happened when I hit the brakes
And I crashed at the bottom of the hill

In honor of my memory
They named the hill 'The Speedy Trail'
Now everyone remembers me
As the fastest ever Snail
