The Swan
To a Swan seen on the River Thames in Oxford
Elegance in petals
of white,
a delicate cloud
gliding through
sun jewels,
acoss the skies
in placid pools.
To await the cold stars
draped in shades
of purple light,
and the silver shine
of blackberry night.
Gentle to the summer ball
of elderberry moon wine,
a slender white shadow in
the splendour of floating dreams,
through river mist, wildflower
meadows and emerald leaves,
drifting into silver frost of sky
to stagger into
the honeysuckle dew
of red dawn sky.

wow! delicious write Tony!...........................................................................Jim
Hi Jim, thank you for your lovely comment. I adore observing these majestic, otherworldly birds of great beauty, especially on The River Thames as it passes through Oxford on its journey to the sea. In Celtic mythology they represent purity and light. I wrote this whilst sat on a bench on the river bank. I trust you are very well dear friend. xx
