The Way We Were
Inspired by Barbara Streisand’s song “The Way We Were”

Humanity now suffers from the loss of, it’s passions from the past;
Those things that made us happy, that we thought would ever last!
For me, it’s weekdays at 5 a.m., exercise and a jacuzzi at the spa;
Being around all my workout pals, telling jokes to hear their “has”!
.
Or going out to lunches, at my favorite two buffets;
Three times a week I’d dine there, and put lots of food away!
Weekend sports shows on the TV, golf, tennis, boxing, hoops and the NFL;
Endless hours of entertainment, that made my happiness swell!
.
Of course, the most important, is being out near fellow beings;
Countless close encounters, elation of brief friendships seeing!
We all have our lost desires, that today, no longer do occur;
We all agonize, as we look back, with tears for “The Way We Were”!
.
.
The tears of today
Are brought by the yesterdays
And the way we were

businesses are closed
its very sadÂ
so Larry And Linda
be safe love you both
Our Dear Greg,
We are so sorry for what is happening in The Villages. Are all the golf courses closed? What are you doing to pass the days? Do you go out for long walks? How is your Sister doing? We just cannot imagine that all of the wonderful luxuries we once knew, have been taken away. Hopefully, we will survive, and eventually get our lives back.
All our love, stay safe and well,
Linda and Larry xxx
Good morning Larry know all the golf courses are open my sister is just fineÂ
And what’s going on in the world is like the twilight zone very scary Do you have a wonderful day and peace and love to both of you
The things we all took for granted! It's insane how this has happened to the world. I swear, I will NEVER take anything for granted ever again. My prayers are always for humanity right now. Keep safe and well x
My Dear Being Me,
Yes, it is amazing how everything that we took for granted, now, no longer exists. We all have to hope that our World survives this pandemic, and eventually defeats it.
All my love, stay safe and well,
Larry xxx
Hello Larry...
It seems like the timing is everything...
Almost a Socialist experiment to see how the Country could actually handle it...
They had had to have something instead just the shock of it first...
I have been prepared for something for years it was just a matter of time before something new would happen...
Remember everything happens in 3s just like other diseases that 2 more would follow...
History teaches a lot but, combined with the Bible the information and warnings are quite clear...
All we've was watch and it's not a surprise...
It was only a question of when and what will it be?
This isn't going to be the last thing as it isn't the first...
Stay safe both of you and this too shall pass and we'll wear shirts that say I survived Covid19...
Great write!
Thank you for sharing...
Hugs to you both from afar...

My Dear sparrowsong,
Let us hope that this is third, in a "trilogy of tragedies" that have befallen mankind, i.e., The Black Plague of the Middle Ages, the Spanish Flu of 1918, and this, COVID 19, the deadliest of them all. If we can survive this one, there is hope for our future. Â
Thank you for your most insightful comment.
May you and your loved ones stay safe and well.
All my love,
Larry xxx
Hello Larry...
Let's definitely hope this isn't one with two to follow...
This is in response to your other write where you basically told me I am completely wrong...
Maybe, you haven't really read many of my writes since 2014 but, I did say to be prepared, be prepared for something, the Bible tells us about plaques, disease, famine are we supposed to think it's not talking about us?
Just everyone else?
Sorry I don't live in a fantasy and I never say, not me...
Stay healthy...
Best wishes and blessings!
Hugs from afar to you and Linda...

" GIVE ME THE SONG. GIVE ME, THE MOONLIGHT. " You, find in your memories the key to unlock the door, to deep reflection. On passing time, and, seeing change affect the ways as well as wants of the majority " Verdict " ! Their judgement on what has been, and, what has given most satisfaction. Within, the broad spectrum of expectations. Going on past precedents, and, hopes lost, or rewarded. By, actual events, rather than optimistic dream scenarios.
The achievements, of the years, are set against the " quirk of fate " or the misadventure. Where, love, is forsaken, as well as promises in the " eyes, of reason " ! Born, of wisdom gained from reality setting-in, over the conjecture, of those easily led by falsehoods. Or, repetitive amplification of the desired, over circumspect assessment. " GET REAL. GET THE DEAL. " To, make more of yourself, and, the future. To, one day, live within the smile. of, TIMES WELL SPENT !
To, health and happiness. Everywhere. Â
Dear Richard,
It is impossible for me to dwell on the future, when I believe there is none. I don't think the World as we knew it, will ever be the same. Science Fiction has become our reality. It is a nightmare that one never wakes up from. Those of us that survive, will be scavengers on Earth, foraging for our sustenance. So, for now, I lose myself in the joyous past.Â
Stay safe and healthy.
Peace and Love,
Larry xxx
