Poem -

the wings of the dove

the wings of the dove

Protected by the umbrella moon
caressing under the night-sky, so calmly
coming to realise simplicity’s best
whether the weather is chilly or balmy

and so we move on
to a life spent surrounded
though the serpent is near –
from danger, safeguarded

by a face bringing smiles –
the wind changes, they stay
luminescence for miles
a bright time of day

when one lies on the beach
looking out to the harbour
danger, though near
appearing always the farther

away from our nest
where family and friendship
builds a fortress around
a life shared so gladly

his crowd have their own life
created, now followed
through life’s intangibles –
his love they may borrow

to get through the hard times
enjoy good times more often –
subtly yearning
for what can be softened

like faith and esteem–
the semblance of love
look through the umbrella moon –
see the wings of the dove
