They say "you are too young"

We do fall in love, that's why they tell us
We can kiss in the rain, that's why they tell us 

We can name our children, that's why they tell us
We can hold eachother, that's why they tell us 

We can fight at 3am, that's why they tell us 
We can try our best, that's why they tell us

We can speak the words "I love you", that's why they tell us
We can feel those words, that's why they tell us 

We will plan every detail, that's why they warn us 
We will mess up, that's why they warn us

We  have grown depressed, that's why they warned us
We have lost sight of light, that's why they warned us 

We cannot forget, that's why they warned us
We cannot let go, that's why they warned us 
We stay up In tears,  that's why they warned us 

We are young ones
Not but a few years past a decade
Staring, crying and desperate now 
The silent mess we made
