Tides of Loneliness

The starfish lays on its belly, as the sun dries its back
On the sand beach it becomes buried, as the seagulls find the remains
The hermit crab comes out of its shell, old and brittle, it falls asleep
Oyster clams, empty their pearls, then drift ashore, eaten by sandpipers
Seaweed and moss drift in with the tide, the beetles and water insects peek out
Life, among the blue topaz of the waters, tides of loneliness passing by
The sea turtle swims ashore, lays her eggs, and the buzzards find the nest
Fish from the blue lagoon, float upon the waters, soon to turn to bones that lie
Our planet needs protected, survival with the purest, no litter in our ocean
No harpooning of our whales and seals, extinction must not take place, let it dismiss
No oil spills, for our pelicans, spoonbills, or kingfishers to drown in loneliness
Take pride in the nature around us, let them survive, the beauty of the waters, let them stay in motion
Let them survive
