To our kids

Uniform on, school starts, 
Cry because me and Mummy apart 
Soothe them with kisses, say “you’ll be home before you know”
Wave them off  after wiped tears, in skipping they go

You being brave too, you want them to stay by your side
What is happening around the globe want to protect her baby and hide
Home you go and tidy their crumbs, 
Boris’ mumbling in the black ground, it numbs 

She looks out her window and pictures your face
She wish she could make the world for you a safer place
Scared what’s to come with virus and wars
Scared what’s  going on at night,  the wrong side of her door

All she wants is to protect you from fright
But this world is full of snakes venom that bites
She prays for you to be safe and well
In this scary world, on the news it’s hell

So for now she will read you happy stories at night
Do all in her power, to not let the bed bugs bite
