Today

Today

The sky is slightly dimmer
As if it's lost its will to shine
And no longer wishes to illuminate this world of mine

The sounds of the street
The cars and the people passing by
Have developed the slightest echoing
In their dayly grinding cry

Tires grinding against the harsh pavement
Let out a slightly more audible and distressed sort of sigh
As if they long to cease this never ending treck
Its sounds like each is asking me "why"
As they pass by

Once in a while a thin slice of crisp cool air cuts through the retched heat around me
And a miniscule speck of moisture wrestles it'self free

From the thick atmosphere that traps it with selfish greed
But soon the sky will rip open and every cloud will bleed

So maybe I'm a bit dark
Maybe Im insane
All I know for sure is that
Today
I sure love the rain
