Too far away yet just so long

Too far away yet just so long

The promontory – the valley road
Look past the sky to wings of steel

Illusion wreaks the realist
To touch the earth – it’s hope he feels

Grasping some may think at straw
Too far away yet just so long

The bright light serves to navigate
A path of plenty for the strong

Few in number – rare in breed
The many shed and sense a cost

Aspiration yet to yield
Distraught – desirous – expressing loss

They walk their own path – soul laid bare
To bask in prayer with arms outstretched

They kneel then clasp their hands as one;
I strive to be – I’m yours – a wretch

E’er and ever and beyond;
You serve me well – reap what you sow

True delight will relish trust
The Sage begets all things you know

And so throughout – their wings will grow;
Pardon plenty – forget wrong

And welcome them – look past the sky
Too far away yet just so long
