True American Dream

True American Dream

Maybe I am white
And maybe you are black
Maybe it’s an issue
But I still got your back

Even if I’m a woman
Even as you’re a man
We’re in this together
To come up with a plan

The greatest thing in the world
Is us working together
Through thick and thin
Walking through uncertain weather

Some days are dark
And many days have lows
We can can take whatever
This harsh life throws

My point isn’t equality
Even though that’s what it may seem
My point is together-ness
That’s the American Dream

Being Me

I am not American but I do still love the sentiments expressed in this poem. Togetherness needs to be a world wide thing if we are ever to live in harmony. I love your poem, Harley. Well written x
