Land of the Liars, Home of the Blind

Land of the Liars, Home of the Blind

I don’t believe that autistic people should be labeled by how they respond to stress
Because just because someone can follow your directions, it doesn’t make them “high functioning”
It means they’re comprehending what you’re saying and obeying
Not that their brain works any better than someone who can’t

I don’t believe an animals intelligence should be determined by how well they do tricks
And follow commands given by humans
It’s not a mystery as to why most people like dogs over cats
It’s because cats force you to respect their boundaries and don’t live to obey commands
Cats expect personal space and to be treated fairly

I used to wonder when the ideals of Americans changed
Why the role models we look up to are the ones with an OnlyFans or men with more rape allegations that you could count in a lifetime
I know now that it’s because people are no longer afraid to hide the worst parts of them
It’s become a trend to be toxic and promote sexuality to children

As a young girl, I dreamt of fighting for my country
Laying down my life for my freedom, as many before me have done
But now our army cares more about whether you have two moms than if you can do a push-up
When Jefferson Bethke explained why he loves Jesus but hates religion,
I understood even more that I love America but hate Americans

When you see a homeless man, you’re afraid to offer money, fearing he’ll abuse it
Instead, you fill your kids Adderall prescription because your four-year-old needs to be “calmer”
I’m not allowed to wear shorts and  a t-shirt, or it could be used against me in court
But a man in uniform can be justified in shooting an unarmed man for driving while “black”

Instead of building a wall, we should burn it to the ground
All great empires have a downfall
Ours happen to be rich white men in suits too old to see three feet in front of them who hate gays and say the N-word
But yes, we’re all Proud to be Americans cause at least we know we’re [Free]
