True Innocents

Many of their parents ,
they will never know.
Tiny in open  cots ,
temporary sanctuary.
A lull in their storm.

Many born and left behind
warrior fathers , radicalized brides.
We watch the evening news
hearing about how many will , 
probably , not pull through ....

True innocents , impervious to it all.
Where they born from passion , 
or just for a cause ?
How many will survive ?
Through impartial television 
- We look on with sad eyes ..
