Unattainable, perfect love

Blue Rose

Unattainable, perfect love

You plucked the blue rose and placed it on the end of my lonely bed
The last petal to fall said you love only me
Yet you would reach for others as the chemicals danced around your head
Whilst declaring perfect love and that
"There is no one above thee"
As I wandered around in my wedding gown
My anorexic heart bleeding on sartorial sin
The blue rose unattainable...
...... the colour added in

This is beautiful!  Utterly beautiful. Wow!  You really do have a talent for writing great poetry. This one is not only beautiful but it is emotional and the reader cannot help but to feel the pain. A zillion stars! ( I know we can only give 5 so I thought it best to mention the others because you wont see them). Seriously, this is one well written and beautifully crafted poem x

Thanks so much, I love blue roses (even though they don't actually exist) I enjoyed writing this one.

A blue rose would indeed be very Beautiful. Don't they feed blue food colouring in the water with white roses to get them to turn blue? I think they do the same with white orchids. If only they could naturally be like that! ?? x

I know, and I find it quite strange because every other colour grows naturally. Even black roses exist, though rare.

I was told once that there is an unclaimed financial prize of a substantial amount that is waiting for the person to "breed" a true blue rose. The prize is as yet unclaimed. It must be veerryy difficult to do! But wouldn't it be fabulous x

There is a song 'Bright Blue Rose' the rose is a symbol of Christ and Christ's perfection in the song. It's a beautiful song, Mary Black an Irish singer sings it (& others) though she didn't write it.

And I've never heard of the unclaimed financial prize.

Fish!!  This is very interesting!  Thank you. So, in 1840 (or there abouts) combined hotocultural societies put up 500,000 francs to be awarded to the person who created a blue rose. But no one did then. Now though, a company in Japan has indeed created a blue rose, but they are only for sale in Japan. Wonderful info, my friend. Thank you so much for that x

"unattainable" is hence desirable - human nature. Well penned. But now you'd go to Japan to get one!

Haha 😊 I shall change the ending to (except for in Japan!)
So, now that we have achieved the perfect blue rose, we just have to work on the perfect love ❤️🌹

Perfection doesn't exist only God is perfect :) "Desire" is a buzz word as one always has desire for what's unattainable! The same story repeats itself again, again and again ...

Yes, the blue rose is a symbol of God and God's love. Unattainable by man. But we can always work towards it

Beautiful poetry Diane. It's quite obvious that you're not new to poetry.
