Poem -

Untold story

Up and ready for school.
I slipped on a long sleeved shirt.
Out the door it's not to cool.
Just so you know I'm hurt.

Bell rings and the class is about to start.
Books are opened and I began to read.
I like it here this is my world apart.
For I hide a secret a bad one indeed.

As the day carries on.
I began to laugh and have fun.
No longer do I feel alone.
It's starting to warm up from the sun.

Sweating from dodge ball at recess.
My teacher can see I'm hot.
I reply yea I guess.
And pull off the long shirt oh no I forgot.

The bruises on my arm.
Was the reason for the shirt.
The teacher looks at me with alarm.
How did you get hurt.

Oh I reply.
I fell on the bottom step.
A quick and terrible lie.
Clumsy I am. To proud to ask for help.

As she turns and walks away.
I breath out in a deep sigh.
I'm at school and can play.
Covering the truth with another lie.

As the bell draws near.
Almost time to go home.
My heart races with fear.
I miss the bus so I can roam.

It's only a mile to my house.
And a nice day for a walk.
I walk in quit as a mouse.
Head to my room not wanting to talk.

At home alone an in a rut.
I lay down for a nap.
As I here the door slam shut.
If I'm asleep maybe I won't get a slap.

Crying in fear.
My fathers voice in a scream.
Boy come here.
Home life. A horrible dream.

Hesitating walking down.
Cause I know it's sad when.
Dad is drunk off crown.
An I cry no dad not again.

Another bruise to hide.
And a story not to tell.
My young life's ride.
My own personal hell.
