"Us, As Addicts"

"I'm the truth,
some don't want to see.
Some will probably,
never face.
A vagabond,
to those who don't understand.
A worthless fall to disgrace.
What I have,
lives in your sisters,
fathers, brothers, and mothers.
It isolates us,
with it's lies and deception,
'til we can't face one another.
Because the truth,
becomes foreign,
the strangest thing to hear.
We just brush it off,
and say,
"Shutup and hand me another beer!"
We drink and use,
as our lives,
slowly burn up,
in front of our blurry eyes,
and eventually we find,
some measure of comfort,
in all of the lies.
We use and use,
everytime taking a few steps further back.
Until we are,
up against a wall,
and don't know,
how to act.
My story,
is a shared one,
that spans,
out to the millions,
who thought,
to use and drink,
was the best decision.
Well look at me,
slowly learning again,
how to walk and talk.
Learn from my mistakes,
or in time,
you could have,
the very same fate,
and you might not be,
as lucky as I,
and suffer,
an even worse fate.
Understanding is the key,
to beating the disease,
that lives inside of me,
but without God or acceptance,
us as addicts will never,
be set free.
Come let's take the solid path,
you still have the strength to see.
Because I have a solid vision.
It's of a better you and me."
