What Does The Fox Say?

In the stereotypical night

black sky, stars, all that jazz

the fox crouches

ember fur dulled by shadow

sharp-faced

sharp-witted

Mouth opens

small, hooked pearls gleam

(in what light?

the starlight)

(and why must it gleam?

because in poems

everything is highly reflective)

 and the fox screamed

because that, my friends, is what a fox says.
