What Dreams of Mine

I dream upon a hilltop, I dream upon the blue of the waters, I dream of where I came from
The native tongue in which I breathe, my skin so dark, yet flawless, from every mountain
I look upon and see, the eagle is my mentor, he fears not anything, my guide is the wolf beside
And he follows me to every land, the lakes, the rivers, the mighty channels of our path
For what dreams of mine, shall be kept deep in me, not to escape, but for eternity
I see the trees, and the fireside, where we fed our families in pride, the deer, and the beaver
Our friends of a feather, the turkey, the pheasant, and the quail, where we gained in prosperity
For the nourishment of our land, the sacred sites of freedom, and we shared it with our kin
Let all men and women, our Cherokee spirit, be with the world, these skies we know, the earth is our home
And we shall dream the times of pride, and victory in our bones
