You sir are far more than just an upturned old clinker built rowing boat .. I reckon you hide your best side behind poetry .................. this is bloomin brill .. and I know you have heard it all before, but I really aint talking fish ............................................................ Neville :)
Thank you Neville, you're very kind. A weathered old clinker built is far better looking than me. I wish I could find a picture of the upturned clinker built whalers which have been cut in half across the beam and are used as sheds along the shoreline at Lindisfarne, quite impressive.
I agree with Sir Neville about this being brilliant.......but I must admit you two are talking about subject matter I don't know......Lindisfarne?.....and whaling do not compute.....I guess it's because I'm American.....I apologize for my lack of discernment but I found the poem truly moving!!......ALL STARS!!.....LOVE & ROCKETS!!......T xo
Thank you Tony. It's a great reward for me to read that you were moved. Lindisfarne is a famous island on the north east coast of England and is accessible by a causeway at low tide . A whaler is a large wooden rowing boat which in the days of sail was launched from the large whaling ship with the intention of getting up close to the whale so that a harpoon could be thrown at the whale (i don't support whaling, i'm just recounting historical facts here). There are some great photos of historical buildings on Lindisfarne on Google.
