Why poems about the Manchester Tragedy...are starting to piss me off

The greatest sins of mankind
are Ā atrocities heaped on children
takes unspeakable evil to visit violence
on the truly innocent of Creations
for no God can condone killing
such malice born in hearts of only men
outrage pours with righteous indignation
and I've been reading poems;
some good, some bad, some downright atrocious
I question not the intent
for belief good exists still lives within me
I'm just tired of the fucking hypocrisy
Where were these lines of weeping poetryĀ
for the children of Syria
why did not your elegance speak
for the school children of Afghanistan
Did mothers fear for their own child
when entire homes were bombed in pursuit of one man
when your barely grown child is given a gun
to fight wars in a far away country
did we cry for their sacrificeĀ
and their killing
is everyone not a child, mother, brother, father
we fucking cry when it's closer to home
but did God not make us all?
the banners said "Black Lives Matter"
human fucking lives matterĀ
where are black faces en masse
for their Sikh brethren who got lynched
the candlelight vigils for the Indian shot
for the 'Paki' beat black and blueĀ
for the Chinese
Mexican
for every fucking human beingĀ
We talk about itĀ
write about it
cry about itĀ
wait for God to do something
but can't you fucking see-- fuck it
I will not judge you
because I'm part of the problem too
I'm a hypocrite who is only half awake
May their souls Rest in Peace
those who are suffering find solaceĀ
such evil should never exist
in between all the whining and cursing
I'll take a good look in the mirror
but I'm sorry if I dont have it in me
to read one more fucking poem
about the Manchester Tragedy.

Hi Ā Lost Oh dear IĀ guess i have upset you then, as IĀ wrote onĀ
Manchester, I always thought writing poetry could act as a releaseĀ
of emotion how you feelĀ about a certain topic, event, atrocity
as you have here, releasing your pissed off feelingsĀ .
I think you will find if you look, many poems here are written of all tragediesĀ
across the world,of hunger suffering Ā murder terrorism
I do agree with you thoughĀ "Evil should neverĀ exist"
I am sorry if i offended you by putting my thoughts on theĀ
page, I suggest you don`t F....g read no more about ManchesterĀ
Best wishes to youĀ

Deborah thank you for reading. I can see that it upset you. Which is okay. It is not my job to be nice. But why would you take it personally to be about your poem? And you made it personal by comparing me to another poet. Which is unfair on both him and I. And this has become more about good or bad poetry. And yes bad poetry does exist. But it is not. It's an introspective piece. More about the questions I pose to myself. You read all of it but you skipped parts where I say...I am not questioning the intent of any poem and I'm not judging you but myself. But we are all capable of apathy. That is life. That is human nature. I question it. "The ultimate tragedy is not the oppression and cruelty by the bad people but the silence over that by the good people." Martin Luther King said that. It's not that people are bad. Ā There are good people who sometimes do nothing. And if I am pissed off, well then I am pissed off.Ā
Lost Yes your poem did upset me,but not because of my own poem
far from it,Why would you even think that? i was just saying sorry Ā i upset you
by writing A poem on Manchester, perhaps all of us who wrote on it
should apologize to you for pissing you off!
What upset me is you disregarded everyone s
poetry Ā about Manchester, their own personal feelings on this tragedy that for
me was not warranted, maybe you should re read your own poem and try to see where i am coming from, it really does sound like no one cares about other tragedies.
Ā And i beg to differ my friend there was no comparison between you and Jai
read Ā my comment it says if you look on here there are many poems on
all tragedies and named Jai as a brilliant writer of many tragedies around the worldĀ
who i admireĀ
I think you do well to question yourself there is good and bad in us all, as i shall myself
maybe I feel to much!
I have an opinion as much as you, your poem upset me Ive told you whyĀ
I think Cosmo is to uplift and toĀ encourage writers not have someone tear them downĀ
for feeling sad Ā about a tragedy and writing it out on a page,
I actually like your writing but sorry not this oneĀ Ā
Ā
I wont talk no more on here Ā Lost about your poem other peoples comments
and poetry may getĀ passed Ā by ,but feel free to private message meĀ
if you need to discuss this furtherĀ

Your dead right, unfortunately I myself have become desensitised to the problems around the world, the bombs in Syria, the children dying, all of it hurts so much but I block it out everyday, I have to otherwise I cannot function as a human machine, I just want to destroy the world, we humans are a hateful breed designed to kill. Give me a virus, I will spread it and kill.
Gerard most days I'm with you on that one. Strike the match and watch it all burn
Hopefully this life will turn out to be like the matrix and we will all wake up and realise it was all a bad dream.
