Winter chill

First draught

Winter chill

The bitter icy cold wind,

entwined with crisp white snow,

In the dark depths of winter,

where nothing seems to grow.

The frozen wispy snowflakes,

padding gently on the ground.

Silencing the landscape,

with so much beauty it astounds.

The freezing cold December,

unleashes such a shiver,

until the warmth of Christmas,

and the joy it can deliver.

Messages of peace and hope,

Are warming up the cold.

Filling hearts with gladness

With songs of new and old.
