Wishful Thinking

Snow white and sleeping beauty

make finding the one look so easy.

They wait, are kissed, and it's done.

They ride happily off into the sun.

They have their fairy tale ending

until Prince Charming admits he doesn't really like her singing

or she doesn't really like what he does for a living

or when they are married and sleep together for the first time,

he finds out he doesn't like her snoring

and she finds out he's nice, but the nice kind of boring. 

How long is happily ever after exactly? 

Is it until Prince charming thinks his princess

has guys friends one too many

and she fires back that's just because he doesn't have any.

What if Prince Charming is insecure and a narcissist

and turns out Snow White or Sleeping Beauty is actually a feminist

or a man beater while Prince is simply a cheater. 

or maybe it's none of the big things,

and they fight and get over the small things

sticking together through storm and disaster

then they live happily ever after.

That sounds more like reality,

but it's only human to wish

that life were like fairy tale stories.
