A Wizened Rose

A Wizened Rose

A Wizened Rose
    By Sophy Chen

On my desk, a white rose
Wizened, in a black vase
But still emanates its fragrance

Thanks Ron,

I will try to add more words and stanzas.

This is my first Haiku which was loved by my friends

I will try to write better one

Thank you again Ron

Hi Sophy,

I think it would be really amazing if you could write 3 stanzas using Haiku form all on the same subject.

Sophy, haikus are something I have not put my hand to as yet, not for any other reason than I think they are so difficult to do well (and I always would write too long anyway lol!!) When done to this standard those three little lines say a thousand words.  I am not sure why it is suggested to put in more stanzas on something that was never meant to be lengthened!  This for me paints a picture that you should take in for a moment and explore.  A wonderful sentiment and so cleverly put!!  A haiku worth 5 *s and for me a nomination!  Great job :)

Thanks Rachel,

Thanks for your comments about my poem A Wizened Rose. This is the first Haiku I learned to write last year and that was a cold winter in Beijing,China and the Rose on my desk I appreciated its beauty only three days and then it was wizened with flower on the trunk for a long time and its fragrance was always there. One day I suddenly  wrote these words without thinking

Thank you again !
